Crispy. Sticky. Loud crunch

Smoked Tofu Katsu
- 1 block oomé smoked tofu (we love using the Maple Soy flav for this one!)
- 1 egg
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Neutral oil, for frying or spraying (if air-frying)
Hot Maple Sauce
- ⅓ cup Canadian Maple syrup
- 1 tsp chili crunch sauce
Instructions
- Prep the tofu: Slice block of tofu in half and cut into the tofu in the middle to make cheese insert pocket
Pat dry (no pressing needed — smoked tofu is ready); - Bread the tofu: Insert cheese inside smoked tofu block → dip in egg → dip in panko;
- Cook until golden: Air-fry at 400°F / 205°C for 12–15 min, flipping halfway OR panfry until crispy and golden;
- Make the hot maple sauce: Drizzle maple syrup in bowl, stir chili crunch sauce and mix, heat to make it more syrupy if you would like (optional);
- Glaze & serve: Drizzle hot maple sauce over crispy tofu right before serving (or brush lightly to keep crunch).
Slice into strips for max visual impact 😉 ; - Assemble your sandwich with kewpie mayo, your fav micro greens between your fav sweet milky bread - toast and enjoy!
