Japanese “egg” salad smoked tofu sandwich

 Friends! We’ve learned the hack to make the viral Japanese egg salad sandwich with oomé and it delivers!

 What you’ll need:

Frying pan

Ingredients:

  • 1 block oome smoked tofu of your choice (crumbled)
  • ¼ cup Kewpie mayonnaise
  • ½ tsp kosher salt, plus more to taste
  • ½ t tsp granulated sugar
  • ⅛  tsp black pepper
  • tsp fav cream cheese of your choice
  • 1 tbs unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 (1 1/2-ounce) Japanese milk bread slices (1/2 inch thick)
  • 1/4 of red onion

 

Instructions:

  1. To make your mixture, crumble your oomé smoked tofu in a bowl;
  2. Add salt, sugar, cream cheese, Japanese kewpie mayo, red onion and mix till fluffy and thick;and set aside;
  3. Spread butter on both sides of bread slices and fry until crispy and golden brown; lay. Lay flat to cool on a cooling rack;
  4. Once cooled, cut in half and make an incision in the middle of the half bread to create a pocket;
  5. Once pockets are created fill with your “egg” salad filling and enjoy with a CRUNCH!
